Thou Shall Make Gold
Ah, gold! Sweet, shiny gold! The answer to almost all of World of Warcraft’s leveling problems!
I’m serious… And its why making gold is number 3 on the “10 commandments of horde leveling” list.
Gold:
- Puts us in the best gear available, which
- helps us kill monsters quicker,
- protects us from dying, which,
- saves us time running back to collect our corpse.
- Gets us our food & drink (refer to commandment 2)
- Gets us the latest skill level ups which keeps us killing fast,
- Gets us our level 30 mount, which cuts our transport times in half.
- Helps us dominate other players in PvP
- … look awesome!
Drop the ball on gold generation, and you risk wasting hours of leveling time on dying, grinding slowly, and performing at a sub optimum level because you lack the gear or skills.
Its absolutely essential you formulate a plan on how you’re going to accumulate gold in your leveling adventures, and implement that plan as early as possible.
Some quick tips for new players on how to avoid going broke in World of Warcraft…
- Forget crafting professions, the demand for the created items are low, and you’ll end up SPENDING money to get the required mats.
- Get a gathering profession, but preferably ONLY skinning. Mining is okay, but we need to go off course to level it, and unless you started with it, you’ll never find the time to get its level up (unless you spend scary amounts of gold on ore).
- Get an auction tracking add-on. I use auctioneer. By using auctioneer to its fullest, and by skinning everything I see, I can afford to live very, very comfortably. Thanks all you crafters out there!
I’ve literally just told you half of what there is to making gold in World of Warcraft… But there are gold making experts out there that can teach you some amazing gold getting secrets they’ve uncovered in their (obsessive) time in WoW. But for now try stick with those simple 3 points, and you should avoid being on the WoW poverty line.
