Zygor’s guides are one of my favorite, and lately I find myself using them more than most. Why? Simply because I can jump into WoW, and Zygor’s guide takes me automatically to where I left off (no finding my place in the guide), and then I can knock out an hour of leveling and feel like I’ve made some progress.
Lets get into the details…
First up, installation:
Like all professional guide owners, Zygor has made certain that a wide audience of players can enjoy his guide. Unless you find it hard to switch your pc on in the morning, Zygor’s quick install guide will have you up and running in moments by way of detailed web site instructions complete with detailed how to instructions and screenshots. If you still have issues, Zygor has dedicated support staff on his forums to help you.
Secondly, introduction & orientation:
Not much to say here, Zygor’s guides find your place for you, but Zygor recommends when you start that you hit the previous button a bunch of times and pick up a position in the guide which is 2 levels below you. This ensures you get all the really juicy, big experience multi step quests, and all the other minor quest requirements. While you might think this is doing it the slow way, believe it or not Zygor’s forum actually has tips posted by players saying the fastest way to go with Zygor’s guides (or any guide) is to play the quests from 2 levels above them.
This is widely known in pro circles as the “sweet spot”, and during the 10 levels I went through with Zygor’s guides I was generally 1 level above the suggestion spot in the guide, and I felt like I was going along really nicely.
Third up, how does the guide play?
Super. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Zygor’s guides are so easy its easy to jump in for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, and clear out a bunch of quests. Zygor’s guides automatically track where you’re up to, and remember it for when you log in next so you can pick up immediately where you left off.
Zygor’s guides also look really pretty, and blend seamlessly into Blizzard’s existing graphics and user interface… so no screwing your nose up at any ugly bars and garish graphics here.
Apart from that, Zygor’s routes are highly and rigorously optimized. At one stage I was told to pick up 4 ingredients from the auction house BEFORE a quest even started (I had no idea why I was picking them up, but I did), and when I did get to the quest, I got an easy 8k+ experience in all of 5 seconds.
All of Zygor’s directions are handled by an easy to follow waypoint arrow. Every time you need to find something, or someone, the arrow shows you where to go within the millimeter.
Do I know if you really can get to level 80 in 7 days /played? No. I haven’t used the guide from level 1 all the way though to level 80. Unfortunately I review many guides, and going from 1-80 with every guide is just not possible with the time I have.
I can make an educated guess though after using the guide for TEN levels of play time, that it is one of, if not the fastest guide you’ll find online today.
Conclusion & final score.
Definitely one of my favorite guides – only loses half a point for a bit of difficulty in setting up when you start using the guide (because you may need to change location in the game world, or backtrack to start a lower level quest chain).
The only thing you lack when you own Zygor’s guide is an accompanying gold guide!
