Its almost that time again already…! Patch time!
And you know, I think patch 3.3 might be one of my all time favorite patches. Ya know why?
PALLIES GON’ GET NERFED!
Ahh yes. I love whenever something bad happens to Paladins. Those fancy prancy power gamers who just chose the class because of how uber it is.
If you’re getting angry because you love your paladin and you didn’t roll it because it was uber, then thats great. Good for you. I still hate your class and how wildly uber it is!
AllĀ joking aside (i’m sure some paladins aren’t power hungry 12 year olds with attitude), what exactly is happening in the upcoming 3.3 patch thats getting talked about?
What are players furious about? What can’t they wait for?
I’ve already touched on one… but lets talk some more about it… muwahaha!
Paladin Nerfs
“I liked all the “nerfs” because they kick PvP paladins in the junk, and don’t affect my PvE paladins at all. Suck it you unresistable holy damage monsters.”
- Weasel_FF from the VN Boards
Do you like that quote? I lol’d.
And completely agree with the guy. Click the VN boards link above & read his post.
As you might know if you read my blog much, I love PvP – I level characters to get to end-game PvP mainly, and of all the classes I fight, paladins are always the hardest to kill. Wait, scratch that…
TREES are the hardest to kill… but guess what? They can’t kill you back when they’re keeping themselves alive. Pally’s though? They’ll heal themselves furiously AND out DPS me. Nice one.
No wonder so many people are crying about them being nerfed.
The worst part though seems to be that at the time I write this (and double check to see if the changes are still “IN”) some changes have been reverted.
The original changes of note though were:
Sacred Shield was nerfed to proc only once every 30 seconds,
Aura Mastery was nerfed to 6 seconds down from 10, and
Lay on Hands is no longer self castable.
If you want to see how the paladin community is reacting to the nerfs though go to the WoW class forums… some people are really taking things personally.
Undead/WotF Nerfs
Another highly controversial change is to will of the forsaken. Now, I love this racial, and I love undead – they’re one of the cooler races in the game and have a lot of character, so to be honest I’m sad to see this nerf.
But the nerf isn’t imho too bad. The ability itself is remaining unchanged, but its now sharing a cooldown with similar abilities (which many argue makes it completely useless).
“Will of the Forsaken now shares a 45-second cooldown with similar effects, including the Medallion of the Horde, Titan-Forged runes, Insignia of the Horde, etc.”
The only thing this nerf makes me think is “Where on earth is the EMFH nerf?” Humans still get EMFH and increased stealth detection… and undead get what, cannibalize? Cannibalize is SO meh compared to increased stealth detection.
Its still a kick ass racial though and is now more inline with EMFH’s cooldown sharing. If you’re feeling brave you could probably still go into PvP without a movement freeing trinket…
Spell Knockbacks
So few of you will even realize this, but druids can cast while in mid air, knocking you off your mount and plummeting to the ground. Not a big change, but amusing in that I only found this out the other day, and I’ve been terrified of druids ambushing me in the air ever since, lol;-)
Leveling and New Character Changes
This is a leveling blog, right? I should probably cover some leveling changes then…!
There’s a slew of changes to how new characters work.
None are huge game changers, but most seem to be to make the learning curve even easier – such as a better race/class description to help players choose wisely, and a bunch of things like starting gear, stun chance is reduced for players running from mobs, and health & mana rejuvenation is increased 200% for lowbies up to level 15.
Sweetness.
So this is my own biased view of what I found interesting in the new patch notes… You can read all the 3.3 patch notes here… and then why not let me know what you think are the biggest changes?
Or if you’re a paladin, feel free to flame me!!
